SSANU North-East Zone Holds 11th Regular ZEC Meeting at Taraba State University, Jalingo. ‎



‎The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Taraba State University, Jalingo Branch, successfully hosted the 11th Regular Zonal Executive Council (ZEC) Meeting of the SSANU North-East Zone at the Hon. Aminu Sulaiman Goro Lecture Theater 1.

‎The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Paul Bako, was ably represented by the DVC Administration, Prof. Jonathan Rubean, alongside the university’s management team, warmly welcomed the National President of SSANU, Comrade Mohammed Haruna Ibrahim, and his delegation to the institution.

‎In his welcome address, Prof. Jonathan Rubean described the National President’s presence as a testament to his unwavering commitment and grassroots engagement with SSANU members. He reaffirmed that the university remains peaceful and progressive under the capable leadership of Professor Bako.

‎The Branch Chairperson, Comrade Bitrus Joseph Ajibauka, expressed profound gratitude to His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas, Governor of Taraba State, for his dedication to staff welfare. He acknowledged several recent developments, including:

‎- The part-payment of outstanding salaries and allowances;

‎- Full implementation of the ₦70,000 new national minimum wage (2024);

‎- Tuition fee reductions for students;

‎- Renovation of male and female hostels;

‎- Reinstatement and compensation of 10 staff members unjustly suspended for 10 months;

‎- Payment of promotion arrears (2016–2020);

‎- Creation of the Taraba State Ministry of Tertiary Education.

‎Comrade Ajibauka also praised the Vice Chancellor and university management for their support in fostering a harmonious working environment and effective collaboration among all university unions.

‎In his remarks, National President Comrade Mohammed Haruna Ibrahim commended Governor Kefas for his visionary, people-centered leadership and his support for both academic and non-academic staff in the university. He also lauded Prof. Bako’s innovative digital leadership, which he identified as a catalyst for the university’s development.

‎The National President reiterated SSANU’s unwavering commitment to justice, fairness, and improved working conditions for all university staff nationwide. With over 94 branches and 50,000+ members, SSANU remains a powerful advocate for meaningful dialogue and proactive partnership with university managements.

‎Highlights of the meeting included the presentation of a prestigious award to Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas, received on his behalf by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Dr. Hassan Emmanuel Lawson, for his exceptional contributions to education and staff welfare.

‎Additionally, Professor Sunday Paul Bako was honored with the "Digital Performing Vice Chancellor of the Year" in recognition of his digital innovations and commitment to institutional excellence.
