Hon. Justice Jonathan Vows to Improve Jalingo Water Quality

The Taraba State Government is committed to ensuring Jalingo residents have access to clean drinking water, officials announced this week.

Special Assistant to the Governor of Taraba State on Spring Water Development, Hon. Justice Jonathan, addressed water vendors during a sensitization campaign.  He stressed the critical role vendors play in providing clean water, emphasizing the importance of proper hygiene and sanitation.

"As part of the Governor's five-finger agenda, we are dedicated to ensuring all residents in Jalingo have access to safe water," Jonathan said.  He urged vendors to maintain impeccable hygiene practices to support this initiative.

The campaign, a partnership with the Taraba State University's Department of Public Health, included practical demonstrations on proper water container cleaning.  Public Health Department President Shafiu Adamu, Rehab Titus Nyaku, Hannatu Yohanna Gani, and Pleastness Na’omi Nasara emphasized the link between unclean containers and waterborne illness, stressing the importance of keeping containers covered and thoroughly cleaned.  They also highlighted that pure water is typically clear and odourless.

Water vendors, represented by Haruna, thanked the government for the training and pledged to implement the new hygiene standards.  The event included practical sessions, the distribution of cleaning materials, and the sanitation of water collection points.
