Tragedy Strikes in Bauchi: Husband Arrested for Allegedly Beating Wife to Death By Ishaku S. Indih

A devastating incident has shaken the community in Bauchi, Nigeria, where a 50-year-old businessman, Nuru Isah, has been arrested for allegedly flogging his 24-year-old wife, Wasila Abdulahi, to death. The altercation reportedly erupted over a disagreement about ingredients and fruits for breaking the Ramadan fast.


According to Ahmed Wakil, the Bauchi Police Public Relations Officer, the incident occurred on Saturday night in the Fadamam Mada area. Isah allegedly used a cane to strike his wife, causing her to collapse and lose consciousness. She was rushed to the ATBU Teaching Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.


The Bauchi State Police Command has initiated a thorough investigation into the incident and has apprehended the suspect. The cane allegedly used in the assault has been recovered as evidence, and the deceased has been placed in the mortuary pending autopsy procedures.


The Commissioner of Police, Auwal Muhamad, has assured the public that justice will be served, stating that the command is committed to safeguarding the lives and properties of all citizens while ensuring that offenders are held accountable.


This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence. The Bauchi State Police Command's swift response and assurance of justice bring some solace, but the community must continue to work together to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
