The inauguration of the Central Technical Committee for the registration of youth groups in the 168 political wards of Taraba State was held today at the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor. Seven members were sworn in as part of the committee, marking a significant step toward youth empowerment in the state.
In his welcome address, Ambassador Emmanuel George, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, emphasized the immense responsibility entrusted to the newly inaugurated committee members. He noted that the committee is not just an administrative body but a "catalyst for change, a beacon of hope, and a symbol of unwavering commitment to the empowerment of the youth."
Ambassador George also took a moment to commend the Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, for providing the youth with a vital platform in the state. "We shall continue to remind our youth of the beautiful policies of Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas that have a direct bearing on the lives of Taraba’s youth," he said.
The committee's mission is clear: to create a transparent and efficient registration process for youth groups, offering them access to support and resources that will help them thrive. Ambassador George further stressed the importance of fostering partnerships between youth groups, government agencies, and civil society organizations to build a collaborative and empowered youth sector in Taraba State.
"We will work tirelessly to ensure every youth group in Taraba State has access to the resources they need to succeed," Ambassador George said. He invited everyone to join him in building a brighter future for the youth of Taraba State, urging all involved to remain committed to the values of transparency, accountability, and inclusivity.
Additionally, Ambassador George shared that the program will run throughout April, with the central committee inaugurating the zonal committees, and the zonal committees subsequently inaugurating the local government committees. "We aim to ensure that work begins immediately to create a meaningful impact," he added.
The Chairman of the Inaugurated Committee, Isa Mohammed, expressed gratitude on behalf of the committee members, thanking Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas for his vision and policies that support youth development. He also thanked Ambassador George for selecting them for the responsibility. "This is a call to service, and we consider it a community service opportunity to contribute to the development of our dear state," he said.
Isa Mohammed also highlighted the importance of data in shaping policy decisions, stating, "Data is the basis for today’s policies. Without it, no effective decision-making is possible. We are committed to serving all responsibilities associated with this role."
The event concluded with goodwill messages from the newly inaugurated committee members, who commended the leadership for selecting dedicated individuals and emphasized the importance of integrity in the state's development.
With this new committee, Taraba State is taking significant strides toward ensuring that the youth are empowered, engaged, and ready to contribute to the state's growth and prosperity.
