Residents of Jalingo ATC, Kasuwan Bera, are facing severe challenges due to a persistent water scarcity crisis. The erratic water supply has left many without access to this basic necessity, causing frustration and desperation among the community.
For many residents, searching for water has become a daily struggle. They wake up as early as 4:00 am to queue for water, as only a few boreholes are functional in the area. The queues are often long, and the wait can be excruciating, especially during the dry season.
The water scarcity has had significant impacts on the health and economy of ATC Jalingo. Many residents have fallen ill due to consuming contaminated water, while others have had to spend a substantial portion of their income on buying water from private vendors.
Local businesses have also been affected, with food sellers like Mrs. Godiya Peter complaining about the severe impact of the water scarcity on their operations.
Residents are pleading with the Governor of Taraba State to look into this issue and take immediate action to address the water scarcity crisis.
