Taraba SEMA Explores Partnerships for Humanitarian Efforts at Lake Chad Basin Governors Forum



The 5th Lake Chad Basin Governors' Forum is currently underway in Maiduguri, hosted by Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, with the President of Nigeria represented by Vice President Senator Shettima for the flag-off ceremony. This significant event brings together prominent leaders from the region, including Governor Ahmadu Umar Fintiri of Adamawa State, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State, and Ms. Elsie G. Attafuah, representing the UNDP Resident Representative for Nigeria .


Other key representatives attending the forum include:

- Governors from the Lake Chad Basin Region: Governors from Niger, Cameroon, and Chad

- Traditional Leaders

- International Partners: Representatives from the United Nations, African Union, and other international organizations


The Executive Secretary of Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA), Dr. Audu Echuseh, is also attending the forum, which aligns with the vision of His Excellency Dr. Agbu Kefas, Governor of Taraba State, strengthened the state's resilience and capacity to respond to emergencies. Although Taraba State isn't traditionally part of the Lake Chad Basin region, its participation highlights the state's commitment to enhancing disaster management and exploring partnerships to support humanitarian efforts .

By attending the forum, TSEMA can leverage expertise and resources to improve its services and contribute to the development of Taraba State.
