NCDC PARTNERS WITH TARABA GOVERNMENT TO COMBAT LASSA FEVER, ADVOCATES FOR HYGIENE AND CLEAN ENVIRONMENT

 

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has taken a proactive step in addressing public health concerns by paying an advocacy visit to the Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS), Barrister GeeTee Kataps Ngwii, in Taraba State. 

The visit comes amid the recent outbreak of Lassa fever, which has raised concerns about public health and safety in Taraba State.

During the visit, the NCDC emphasized the urgent need for increased public awareness and government-led initiatives aimed at promoting a clean environment and enhancing personal hygiene practices among citizens. 

The delegation highlighted that such measures are critical in curbing the spread of infectious diseases like Lassa fever, which poses a significant threat to public health.

Responding to the advocacy efforts, Chief GeeTee Kataps Ngwii  reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of Governor Agbu Kefas's administration to repositioning the health sector and safeguarding the well-being of Taraba's residents. 

He assured the NCDC team that the state government is fully aligned with their objectives and pledged robust support for their advocacy campaigns. 

The SGS reiterated that fostering a healthier environment and improving healthcare delivery remain top priorities for the government.

This collaboration between the NCDC and the Taraba State Government underscores a shared determination to tackle public health challenges through strategic partnerships, community engagement, and sustained efforts to promote hygiene and environmental cleanliness.
