The entire Jukun Kona sons and daughters have conducted their annual prayer program for the peace, progress and prosperity of Kona Land and people. The prayer program which was held on the 30th of December, 2024 started with a visit of homage to the Kuru of Kona HRH Kuru Augustine Njenmang Vengkani II at his palace after which the congregation moved to the Government Day Secondary School Kona for the prayer program proper.
In a welcome address, the Coordinator of the prayer Program, Rev. Fr. Abraham Godwin Yahaya welcomed all to the program and charged them to pray well for Kona land. He also thanked all dignitaries present for their contributions towards the success of the program as all have gathered to reflect on theme of this year's prayer program which is "our health, our wealth".
The prayer program featured health talk delivered by Anna Yakubu, drama presentation by Kona wood entertainers, cultural dances, intercessory prayers by Rev. Fathers, Pastors, Islamic Clerics and Traditional worshippers all of Kona descent praying for Kona land.
Other events include, talent display by Kona youths, admonition by the elders to the youths, blessing and distribution of salt for the cleansing of the land, releasing of white pigeons for the peace of the land and so many others.
Dignitaries at the prayer program include HRH Kuru Augustine Njenmang Vengkani II, the Kuru Kona, Dr. Aminu Jauro Hassan, the Hon. Chairman Jalingo local government and ALGON Chairman, Taraba State. Hon. Dr. Augustina Godwin Commissioner for Education Taraba State, Hon. Job Julius and so many others.
The Jukun Kona prayer program is an annual prayer program that comprises of all Kona Muslims, Christians, Traditional worshippers and all people of Goodwill who reside within Kona Chiefdom and beyond all praying for the peace, progress and prosperity of Kona Land and people.
