DANGERS OF ALCOHOL ON NIGERIAN YOUTHS.

 


By Yohanna Baba,  The increased of alcohol consumption by Nigerian youth and adult is becoming worrisome ,it's causing a lot  of damage to consumers health that even affect the well-being of the society. A numbers of less privileged people, including teenagers, attempt or engage to relieve feelings  of anxiety and depression associated with poverty,they believed is through consuming alcohol, and at the end are unable to give up the good habit Becouse of its addictiveness. In Nigeria, almost about 20 percent of the population experience problems related to the use of alcohol, despite several efforts by regulatory agencies,aimed at enlightening and educating the public on the side effects of taken alcohol,but the habit is still been embraced by many Nigerian youth and adult. some Motor parks, hotels and relaxations center shamefully sell and promote the intake of alcohol,without minding the scriptures from the holy books,that are  sounding warning from the Almighty creator,  It's goes to the extend that some people cannot do untill they take alcohol,this has negavely affected thausands of youth who have been severely affected by the excessive consumption of alcohol.They   constitute,poor productive at workplace, couses troubles with abusive words, dangling here and there by the roadside public nuisance,at times they went to beds with un remove shoes or clothes and mostly are debtors same unpaid debts.  It is sad to note that regulatory agencies have not been effective in checking alcoholism in Nigeria. As the have not been able to sanction those who have found alcohol a lucrative business, most expecially at the motor parks. Heavy intake of alcohol is a leading couses of some  deaths. The consumption of alcohol can lead to fatal accidents, it can also lead to liver and upper gastrointestinal cancers,  Suicide, robbery, murder, kiddnaping and it contribute into unrest situation. Therefore the concerned authorities, such as NDLEA, NAFDAC, SON, MEDICAL BODIES, and  religious Leaders, should rise on their responsibilities to the challenges of enligtening  the public on the dangers and misuse of alcohol couses, and to as matters of urgency regulate the sale, distribution and consumption of alcohol in the state and country atlarge.
