Taraba State Government Partners with NEMSAS to Enhance Healthcare Access

The Taraba State Government, in collaboration with the National Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System (NEMSAS), has reaffirmed its commitment to improving healthcare access across the state.

This pledge was made during a Stakeholders engagement exercise by the National Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System on Rural Emergency Services and Maternal Transportation RESMAT, programme for the impact States assisted World Bank Project held in Jalingo.

Doctor Bodiya Buma, the State Commissioner for Health, described the meeting as timely and vital, emphasizing the government’s dedication to achieving universal healthcare delivery.

He highlighted ongoing efforts to establish mechanisms that ensure healthcare reaches remote areas in the State, aiming to minimize delays in service delivery.

The Resource Person for RESMAT, Doctor Lawal Ahmed Tijjani, explained that the program focuses on improving transportation for patients to reduce access delays, particularly in rural areas.

He emphasized that the purpose of their engagement is to collaborate with stakeholders to make RESMAT services operational in Taraba State.

The core objective of RESMAT, according to Doctor Tijjani, is to enhance access to timely, quality, and effective emergency services.

He also mentioned training and retraining of clinical staff to improve healthcare delivery standards and ensure that emergency responders are equipped with the necessary skills.

NEMSAS plays a critical role in enhancing emergency healthcare delivery across Nigeria.

By integrating these services, NEMSAS aims to create a comprehensive emergency medical response system that is efficient and effective.

The meeting featured robust discussions on strategies to enhance emergency care in the state and ensure accountability in healthcare services.

Stakeholders collectively explored innovative approaches to streamline emergency responses and improve overall healthcare outcomes for the communities in Taraba State.
