Indefinite Strike Action at Taraba State University

 

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Senior Staff of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) and Non-Academic Staff Union of Education Institutions (NASU), Taraba State University branch, has embarked on an indefinite strike. According to the Chairman Comrade Biturs Joseph Ajibauka, stressed that,  the strike which began on October 28, 2024, aims to address local demands from the university management and state government.

Key issues include:

- Unpaid salaries and allowances

- Withheld salary balances

- Promotion arrears

- Implementation of new National Minimum Wage

- Lack of Pension Contributory Scheme

- Review of conditions of service and appointment/promotion guidelines

- Payment of Eared Administrative Allowances

- Reconstitution of the university Governing Council

The JAC appeals to the university management and state government to settle these outstanding issues.
