TARABA STATE GOVERNMENT REITERATES COMMITMENT TO COMBATING DRUG ABUSE Jalingo



In a significant move to strengthen the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, the Taraba State Government has reaffirmed its dedication to eradicating the scourge. 


This commitment was reiterated during a courtesy visit by the new Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Taraba State Command, Mr Umar Ali Obadiah, to the Ministry of Social Justice and Reintegration.


Dr. Filister Irarimam Musa, Honorable Commissioner of Social Justice and Reintegration, warmly welcomed Commander Obadiah and his team. She expressed gratitude for the visit and emphasized the state government's unwavering commitment to collaborating with the NDLEA.


"Under the leadership of Governor Agbu Kefas, we are determined to make drug abuse and illicit trafficking a thing of the past," Dr. Musa stated. "The establishment of rehabilitation centres across the state is a testament to our resolve."


Commander Obadiah praised both Governor Agbu Kefas and the Honorable Commissioner for their proactive approach to combating drug abuse. He highlighted the positive working relationship he had developed with Dr. Musa during his tenure as Deputy Commander.


"I am committed to building on this partnership to ensure our efforts yield tangible results," Commander Obadiah said.


The meeting was attended by senior officials from the NDLEA, including, the Deputy Commander of Narcotics, the Director of Operations and Training and representatives from the Ministry of Social Justice and Reintegration, the Director of Rehabilitation, Hajiya Fatima and of the  Social Services, Mr Umar Yusuf


The courtesy visit underscores the Taraba State Government's commitment to tackling drug-related issues. 


The partnership between the state government and NDLEA is expected to yield significant results in the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.


Governor Agbu Kefas' administration has demonstrated a strong resolve to address social issues, and this collaboration reinforces that commitment.
