The Taraba State Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, Amb. Joseph Joshua has reiterated the ministry’s commitment to maintaining its partnership with the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in the state.
The Commissioner made this statement during a courtesy visit by the newly elected executives of the association to his office at the state Secretariat in Jalingo.
In his address, Amb. Joseph Joshua congratulated the leadership of SWAN for their victory and emphasized the need to strengthen the working relationship between the ministry and SWAN.
He urged sports writers to enhance their reporting of sporting events across the state, considering the state government’s active involvement in organizing, hosting, and attending competitions in various sports over the past year.
Amb. Joseph Joshua also highlighted the current administration’s focus on prioritizing the sports sector to create job opportunities for the youth across the state under Governor Agbu Kefas.
He also encouraged the leadership of SWAN to always reach out to the permanent Secretary whenever needed when he may not be reached.
During the visit, the state Chairman of SWAN, Comrade Sulaiman Sani, expressed their intention to strengthen the existing cordial working relationship with the ministry and assured improved publicity for sporting activities in the state.
Comrade Sani extended his commendation to Governor Agbu Kefas for his passion for sports development in the state and also lauded the appointment of Amb. Joseph Joshua as a Commissioner, recognizes his vast knowledge, experience, and contribution to youth development.
Additionally, Sulaiman presented a letter of Commendation to the Commissioner for his effort in collaboration with other stakeholders to ensure that the EndBadGovernance protest was demonstrated peacefully in an orderly manner by the Taraba Youth, adding that it is worthy of emulation.
Moreover, the SWAN chairman appreciated the Commissioner and his management staff for granting them an audience within a short period despite his busy schedule.
