The PDP ward returning officers/agents from Jalingo LGA in the recently concluded JYZ Bye-election are accusing Jalingo Local Government Chairman, Aminu Jauro Hassan, of diverting their unpaid allowances for personal use.
Expressing their grievances, some of the returning officers/agents disclosed that the allowances designated for their roles as Ward PDP collation agents in the just concluded JYZ Bye-election have yet to be disbursed to them.
Hon. Hamza Ali Yettore, a Returning Officer from Mayo Gwoi Ward Jalingo, maintained that despite promises from the Jalingo LG chairman to settle their dues promptly after the disbursement of local council salaries, months have passed without payment.
However, despite the victory of Engr. Sadiq Abbas Tafida of the PDP, Aminu Jauro Hassan has repeatedly delayed payment, prompting the returning officers/agents to seek intervention from the party leadership in the state.
Another Ward returning officer from Barade Ward, Hon. Robert Bukar, voiced his dissatisfaction with the treatment they have received.
"We dedicated our lives, along with our human and material resources, to safeguarding the votes for PDP/Engr. Sadiq Abbas Tafida, working tirelessly for two consecutive nights without rest. Yet, this is how we were repaid? Truly unfair from someone we believed would appreciate our efforts, if not enhance our compensation." He said.
Another returning officer from Majidadi Ward, Hon. Sadiq Baba, informed our reporter that upon realizing Aminu Jauro Hassan had misappropriated their funds and showed no intention of settling their dues, they sought the assistance of the Honourable Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Sadiq Abbas Tafida, to intervene on their behalf.
But lo and behold, their efforts proved futile. Instead, the Honourable Member confirmed to them that he witnessed the disbursement of their allowances to the Jalingo LG Chairman, Aminu Jauro Hassan, who, alongside the PDP Chairman, Alhaji Lawandi Bala Atake, collected the funds.
They appealed to His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas, the Governor of Taraba State, and the party leadership in the state to intervene and ensure their allowances are paid.
All attempts to obtain a response from the Council Chairman proved futile, as he neither received nor returned calls from our correspondent. Additionally, text messages and WhatsApp messages sent to him by the editor-in-chief were left unanswered.
