The importance of education in nation building cannot be overemphasized .
It is based on the above premise that the MarBen Foundation in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Jalingo City, decided to visit Manang community to continue its pivotal role of contributing positively to the educational sector.
During the visit, school bags,exercise books, sandals among other items were presented to the pupils to promote quality education in the area.
The goal is to complement government effort towards revamping the education sector In the state.
Speaking during the advocacy visit, Miss Dorcas Elisha of MarBen Foundation said the important role education plays in the lives of any child is the root of success and it is pertinent that every child should be given every right to quality and equitable education regardless of geographical location, ethnic or religious background.
Also speaking, the President of Rotary club of Jalingo city, Rotarian Godfrey Wesley Tafida said every child needs qualitative education to help shape his or her future, saying education is the bedrock of any meaningful development as education helps in improving the economy, teach values and build confidence.
Rotarian Godfrey Wesley Tafida said the positive impact of education, especially in nation building, will not be achieved if parents and teachers do not play their pivotal roles actively in inculcating moral values as well as discipline on their children looking at recent happenings in the educational sector.
He tasked government, parents and teachers to redouble their energies in the moral training of their children for a better society to give education its rightful position in their lives.
Earlier the headmaster of Dogan Alkali primary school, Mr. Maxwell Istifanus, appreciated MarBen Foundation and the Rotary Club of Jalingo City for the advocacy and empowerment visit, saying that the school and the pupils will benefit immensely from the visit.
He commended them for investing and supporting the educational sector of the community.
Mr Maxwell assured them of their commitment towards impacting positive knowledge and societal norms and values to make the pupils responsible children.
He also lauded the Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas for introducing free basic education in the state.
Thanking the MarBen Foundation and the Rotary Club of Jalingo City, the Education Secretary Yorro Local Government Area, represented by Mr. Wesley Ishaya, members of the community, and some pupils of the school, expressed joy over the visit and declared their determination in improving the standard of education in the area.
