Peter George, the Commissioner for Commerce, Trade, and Industry, in an address to his fellow commissioners today, spoke of the Importance of Youth Participation and Free Education Policy in the state.
Speaking to his fellow commissioners and the residents of Taraba state, Peter George, rallied support for the current administration led by Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas. He emphasized the need for dedication and diligence in fulfilling their responsibilities to prevent any disappointment to both the Governor and the entire state.
Mr. George also extended the clarion call to the citizens of Taraba State, urging them to in unity throw their weight behind the present leadership of the state to facilitate the growth and development for the benefit of all. He asserted the backing and collaboration of the community with the Governor's office would play a pivotal role in realizing the yearnings and aspirations of the state.
Addressing the youth directly, Mr. George stated, "I want to use this opportunity to call on the entire youth of Taraba state that we should rally our support to our amiable Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas so that all his dreams he has for the people will be actualized. For it has been said, "Behind any developed society or peaceful society are youths". So youths are the backbone of any development."
The commissioner highlighted the significance of the decisions taken by the Governor to run free education in the state. He lauded the implementation of a free education policy and various palliative measures, predicting that these initiatives would alleviate the challenges faced by the state's populace. Mr. George implored parents to take advantage of the free education policy by enrolling their children in schools, emphasizing that youth education will catalyze societal security, growth, and prosperity.
"We want to earnestly thank His Excellency for bringing free education to our state," Mr. George exclaimed. "You know what makes you think otherwise or become a problem to society is when you are idle – 'an idle man is the devil's workshop.' If a child is well educated, he will be thinking positively. In times past, most of our youths did not have the opportunity to go to school, maybe because they didn't have a means of paying their tuition fees. Now, thank God for the victory of His Excellency, Governor Agbu Kefas our Governor, the people's Governor for introducing free education in the state."
The commissioner's address resonated with many in attendance, inspiring a renewed sense of unity and purpose among the residents of Taraba state.
