Chief Registrar Court of Appeal Hails President Tinubu for Pioneering 38-Kilometre Gembu-Mbamnga-Nyang Road

In a significant acknowledgment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts to develop critical infrastructure in Taraba State, the Chief Registrar of the Court of Appeal, Barr. Umar Bangari, lauded the federal government’s initiation of the transformative 38-kilometre Gembu-Mbamnga-Nyang road project.

The road, long-neglected and plagued by poor access, has caused severe challenges to the people of Sardauna Local Government Area (LGA), particularly in terms of transportation, healthcare, and education.

Speaking during the Eid-El-Fitr celebrations in Mbamnga, Bangari expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the local community for the long-awaited intervention, which he described as a lifeline for the region.

The N71 billion project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Works, is set to drastically improve regional connectivity, bolster access to essential services, and significantly reduce fatalities attributed to the road’s dilapidated condition.

The project’s completion is expected to facilitate easier movement, especially during the rainy season, when transportation becomes particularly treacherous.

The Chief Registrar reflected on the arduous journey that led to the approval of the project, stating that it had been a personal aspiration since his childhood.

He credited the successful realization of the project to persistent advocacy, including key dialogues with influential government officials and tireless efforts by local leaders who championed the cause.

He also acknowledged the pivotal role played by the National Assembly, particularly Honourable Abubakar Bichi, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, for securing the road’s inclusion in the 2023 or 2024 federal budget.

Bangari also provided an optimistic update on the project’s progress. The bridge over the River Donga, a central component of the road, is already 65% complete, with the entire project expected to be finished within 24 to 30 months.

“We are confident that the pace of work will ensure timely delivery,” he said, expressing optimism about the project’s successful completion.

Beyond the infrastructural impact, Bangari emphasized the critical importance of peace and unity in ensuring the road’s successful execution.

He explained that the federal government’s intervention was made possible by the region’s relative stability, underscoring that conflict and instability could have easily derailed such an important project.

He further pointed to the project as a potential catalyst for private sector investments, especially in agro-allied industries and livestock farming.

With the enhanced infrastructure, Bangari believes the region is poised for significant economic transformation, providing much-needed job opportunities for the local youth and fostering sustainable growth.

The   Gembu-Mbamnga-Nyang road project, once completed, will serve as a crucial gateway to socio-economic progress for Sardauna LGA. By enhancing access to vital services, promoting trade, and ensuring a safer, more connected region, it is set to reshape the future of the area, paving the way for long-term prosperity and development.
