Coordinated Emergency Response by Taraba SEMA and Other Interagency Averts Major Disaster in Jalingo.




A coordinated emergency response by multiple agencies in Taraba State, Nigeria, successfully prevented a major disaster at Taraba State University junction today. The Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), led by Dr. Audu Echuseh, Executive Secretary, took the lead in mitigating the incident.


The swift response was made possible by the strong commitment to disaster management demonstrated by His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas's administration. By emphasizing inter-agency cooperation and collaboration with other emergency services, the state has enhanced its disaster preparedness and response capabilities.


Key Agencies Involved

- Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC): Provided security support and ensured public safety

- Taraba State Fire Service: Offered fire-fighting services and prevented the spread of fires

- Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC): Assisted with traffic management and ensured safe evacuation routes

- Nigeria Police Force: Maintained law and order and secured the incident scene


The Commissioner of Transportation Development, Hon. Yakubu S Yakubu, provided additional support by deploying a complementary fire fighter truck, while the Commissioner for Commerce, Trades, and Industries, Hon. Peter George, offered valuable assistance.


SEMA underscored the importance of public cooperation during emergencies, urging residents to avoid accident scenes and follow instructions from emergency personnel. Today's successful response highlights the effectiveness of interagency collaboration in preventing disasters and ensuring public safety
