JYZ ELECTION – FEDERAL HIGH COURT ORDERS INEC TO INCLUDE KOFI’S NAME

 


In a significant legal development, the Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital has issued an order compelling the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to open its portal and include the name of Hon. Munir Adamu Kofi of Action Alliance AAin the lists of candidates battling for seat member of the House of Representatives to represent the people of Jalingo Yorro Zing Federal Constituency.


This decision comes after Munir Kofi filed a petition challenging the initial exclusion from the official list.


The court, presided over by Justice Salim M. Ibrahim ruled in favor of Munir Kofi after a thorough examination of the case. The order mandates the INEC to rectify the oversight and ensure that the name of the Action Alliance candidate is rightfully included in the list of candidates for the upcoming Jalingo Yorro Zing Federal Constituency bye-election.


The judgment emphasized the importance of fair and transparent electoral processes, asserting that every eligible candidate deserves an equal opportunity to participate in the democratic exercise.


The court’s decision underscores the significance of upholding the principles of democracy and ensuring that all qualified individuals can engage in the electoral process without unjust hindrance.


Upon the announcement of the court’s decision, the Deputy Director General of Munir Kofi Campaign Organization Hon. Kamal Bagarmi expressed gratitude for the legal system’s impartiality and commitment to justice. He commended the judiciary for being a last resort for a common man.


Kamal Bagarmi called on the electorate at the constituency to come out to vote Action Alliance candidate in the fouthcoming bye-election for Jalingo Yorro Zing Federal Constituency.


The Electoral Commission is now expected to promptly update the list of contestants to reflect the court’s directive.
