The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) began the registration of artisans across 16 local government areas of Taraba State on Wednesday.
Alhaji Danjuma Shehu, the Taraba State Coordinator of the directorate, disclosed during a visit to the Taraba Shopping Complex, which houses workshops for electronics accessories and other artisans, that the initiative aimed to collect data on unemployed artisans for presentation to the federal government.
Shehu stated that they had obtained approval from the Director-General of the directorate to conduct the exercise and urged all artisans in the state to proceed to their respective local governments for registration.
“This registration of artisans is a nationwide exercise aimed at gathering data on unemployed artisans for positive action by the federal government. All artisans should go to their respective local governments and register, indicating their skills on the form,” said the state coordinator.
He further explained that the NDE’s initiative would assist the federal government in obtaining data on unemployed artisans and provide them with equipment to improve their businesses and contribute to the advancement of society.
